Argos offers ‘in demand’ Android phone for just £99
Argos ruled the UK high street with its great consumer goods range paired with competitive prices, and the same applies today to its online business. If you’re after a new Android phone, Argos is a great place to check out the latest deals, and one in particular stands out.
As part of its May Bank Holiday discounts, Argos is currently offering the Motorola G35 5G for £99.99, a scarcely believable price for a modern Android smartphone. This handset is already a cut-price option when it retails for its full £149.99, but this discount knocks a third off to get you in at a penny less than £100.
On the listing page, Argos notes the phone is “in demand” with scores of units sold in the last 24 hours at the time of writing. It’s also advertised as the “lowest price” Argos has sold it for.
If you’re hoping to spend as little as possible on a solid, functional smartphone, this could be the one for you. Released in 2024, it’s an entry-level, low-powered option, but if all you need your phone for is calls, texts, WhatsApp, Google Maps, email and a bit of social media it’ll fit the bill.
It packs in a 6.72-inch LCD screen (so not OLED, which is often better quality) with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The resolution is also HD, so streaming shows and movies on your favourite apps will look good, plus there is 128GB of storage to make sure you have enough space for your apps and photos.
Those photos will be taken via the 50MP main camera, with an 8MP ultra-wide lens as back up. There’s also a 16MP front facing camera for selfies and video calls.
The 4GB RAM isn’t much, meaning this isn’t a phone for multitasking or running demanding apps such as Genshin Impact or Lightroom. It’ll cope with Candy Crush and other light games, but for £99.99 this isn’t a device that should be expected to run toe to toe with phones such as the iPhone 17 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra – both of which cost more than ten times what the G35 costs.
But even for this low price you get 5G connectivity and a large 5,000mAh battery – the same size as in the S26 Ultra – meaning you can eke at least two days of charge out of the Moto with average use. That’s one of the big bonuses of lower-powered Android phones that aren’t as taxing on their batteries.
It’s not clear quite how long Argos is running this special offer, but it’s certainly one of the cheapest ways to get your hands on an Android phone right now.
