Two of four lanes are shut on the anticlockwise carriageway at J3 (Cheadle) due to the collision. There is also traffic on the M56 slip road to join the M60. National Highways said there is around four miles of congestion on the approach to the incident, adding 30 minutes to normal journey times. Elsewhere, traffic is also being held on the M60 clockwise at junction 27 for the Portwood roundabout following reports of a separate crash.
